Benjamin Sabath was born in Zabor near Pisek in 1862. He was the son of a Rabbi. After finishing his college he made a technical degree in Prague.
In 1886 he went to Pola (now Pula in Croatia, at this time the largest war harbour of Austria) to serve on the “Novaraâ€.
His diary stops 1900, after my grandmothers birth. The time until 1939 is described by my mother, Lisl Schröfl. 1909 Benjamin Sabath moved to the capital Vienna, where he lived until he went back to Prague in 1939.
The last years, until his death in Theresienstadt, are documented by the correspondence with his daughter.
